This is big news, and I’m really excited to bring the concept to life: Audio. I’m embarking on a quest to grace your ears with offbeat art and creation perspectives through voice. I’m hoping to interview as wide a cross-section as possible with people who use creative rituals in their work or everyday.
I’m calling it the
Am I creating disorder, or am I afflicted with a disorder that leaves me tragically stricken with creativity? Or are they two separate statements altogether and just two words that I like? Your opinion may waver on the meaning of this title and that’s fine with me. I’m just thrilled to have decided on a name for it that captures what I’m doing here.
This is me flipping a switch on to try and actively expand my network, for a variety of reasons, not all cynical. More than anything I want to connect with other creators. So far so good.
In Episode 1 I am interviewing Nathaniel Roy, graphic designer and author of the awesome newsletter A Book Designer’s Notebook. He just dropped a great issue that goes into detail about his process in designing the cover for Float Like a Butterfly, Drink Mint Tea. Just look at those handsome mockups, muah!
Without further preamble:
CREATIVE DISORDER Ep. 001: Nathaniel Roy
Some things mentioned:
(Paul Bacon designs)

(James Victore designs)

(A phenomenal use of Comic Sans)
(Wolfman is a dickweed and cheats at Cataan)

This has been a lot of work. HOWEVER. The reward has been real rewarding, and I’m committed to continuing, my goal is to have one of these (interview/discussion/monologue) shipped to you twice per month. Right now, I think that’s the right scale. Time will tell!
Real quick update about work because we’re keeping the details of this project locked down, but I just finished the issue that I’ve been working on and its going to be pretty huge. I will be sharing more on that as SOON as possible.
I can tell you that it definitely involved drawing a bunch of crazy little cars like the ROAD ROACH here.
PEACE! Seriously. Try not to kill or be killed out there, shit’s wack, and you can take that to the bank.
